Pete has spent years showing up for the people and businesses of the Coachella Valley. Here's what some of them have to say about him — in their own words.
"When I think about Pete Chryss, I don't just think about someone who is involved in our community. Pete is the community.
He understands that strengthening the Coachella Valley begins with strengthening its people. He sees hardworking individuals who are trying to build a business, pursue a dream, or create a better future—and he chooses to invest in them. He opens doors, makes introductions, shares what he has learned, and gives people the confidence to step into rooms they may not have believed they belonged in.
I know this because Pete has done that for me.
But what defines Pete more than anything is his unwavering commitment to doing what is right. He goes above and beyond—not because anyone is watching and not because there is something in it for him, but because he genuinely cares about the outcome. He considers what is right for the individual, what is right for the community he calls home, and what will protect and strengthen the Coachella Valley for the generations that come after us.
Pete understands that true leadership is not about holding a title. It is about accepting responsibility for the people, places, and future entrusted to your care. It means making thoughtful decisions, standing firm in your values, and doing the right thing even when it requires more time, more effort, or a more difficult path.
Pete doesn't simply want the Coachella Valley to thrive—he has spent years helping make that happen, one person, one business, and one meaningful connection at a time. His impact can be seen throughout this Valley, not because he seeks recognition, but because strengthening his community is simply who he is.
That is the person I know Pete to be, and that is the kind of leader our community deserves."
I have known Pete Chryss for some time now, and throughout that time, he has always lent a helping hand and given back every chance he gets. There are a few people in the Coachella Valley who stand out as much as Pete does. He seems to be present even when he's not around, and very few people have that trait. Many people call themselves leaders; however, along the way they seem to lack a very important skill set that can't be taught, and that is caring for your fellow neighbor.
I can't recommend Pete enough for the Coachella Valley Water District Board of Directors, District 4. As an Indio resident, I would love to see a fellow Indio resident take a seat in this important role and lead from the front lines. Pete carries drive, compassion, and understanding of his city. I know that Pete will do an incredible job and only add to the amazing work that the Coachella Valley Water District does.
I have had the privilege of knowing Pete Chryss for the past two years, and during that time I have come to know him not only as a friend, but as a man of integrity, character, and commitment.
Pete serves faithfully in our local church and is also part of my preaching team. I have also had the opportunity to serve alongside him through God in Your Business, an outreach focused on bringing faith and godly principles into the business community.
Pete came alongside our church during a very difficult season, and he brought fresh fire, encouragement, and a willingness to serve wherever he was needed. That says a lot about the kind of man he is.
Pete is dependable, passionate, loyal, and faithful. He is task-oriented and when he says he is going to do something, he does it. He doesn't just start something, he sees it through. I've watched him lead, serve, and give his all without looking for recognition.
I also see Pete's genuine heart for the Coachella Valley. He is active in our community and is always ready to step in, help, and serve.
I trust Pete because I have watched his life. He has consistently done what he said he would do and has proven himself faithful week after week.
I believe Pete would serve the Coachella Valley Water District Board well because I've watched him lead well in so many different areas of our community. Pete doesn't slack when there's a job to be done. He gives it his all, and I believe he would bring that same integrity, passion, commitment, and follow-through to serving our community on the Water District Board.
I have known Pete Chryss since 2016, and from the first time I met him, I was impressed by his commitment to his family and to the Coachella Valley community.
Having lived in the Coachella Valley for more than 20 years, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many community and business leaders. Pete stands out as one of the strongest leaders I have known. His approach to leadership comes from what he often calls having a “servant's heart.” For Pete, leadership isn't about the title — it's about helping others succeed and making the community stronger.
I have also gotten to know Pete's sons very well over the years. The values Pete demonstrates in the community are the same values he has instilled in his family. He has done a fantastic job raising his sons to become successful business professionals while, more importantly, being men of strong character and values.
In 2019, Pete and I worked together to create Desert Elite Referral Partners, a business networking and referral organization here in the Coachella Valley. Through Desert Elite, I have watched Pete mentor and support hundreds of local business owners, helping them build relationships, develop stronger businesses, and create a foundation for long-term success. Under his leadership, Desert Elite has grown into an extremely successful organization and a valuable resource for the local business community.
Pete leads by serving others, bringing people together, and following through on his commitments. I believe those qualities, along with his years of business and community leadership, would make him an excellent addition to the Coachella Valley Water District Board.
I am proud to support Pete Chryss for the Coachella Valley Water District Board of Directors, District 4.
I have had the privilege of knowing Pete Chryss for the past seven years, and during that time I have come to know him as a man of exceptional character. Pete is someone who consistently lives out the values he believes in, not simply in words, but through the way he treats people, approaches responsibilities, and serves his family and community.
One of the things that stands out most to me about Pete is the example he sets as a man of faith, husband, father, and grandfather. I have had the opportunity to watch him over the years and see firsthand the importance he places on his family and his faith. He leads with humility and consistency, and his actions demonstrate the kind of character that earns the respect and trust of those around him. He is the type of person who understands that leadership begins with how you live your own life and how you treat the people closest to you.
Pete is also someone I have found to be reliable, thoughtful, and committed to following through on his responsibilities. He listens to others, values different perspectives, and approaches decisions with integrity and good judgment. He does not seek recognition for doing the right thing; rather, he simply believes in doing what is right and serving others to the best of his ability.
I believe these qualities would make Pete an outstanding member of the Coachella Valley Water District Board of Directors. Serving on a board with such an important responsibility requires someone who can be trusted to listen, consider the facts, be fiscally responsible, and make decisions with the long-term interests of the community in mind. Pete has demonstrated those qualities throughout the years I have known him.
I am proud to call Pete my friend, and I am pleased to offer my wholehearted support for his candidacy for the Coachella Valley Water District Board of Directors, District 4. I have great confidence in Pete and believe he will serve the community with honesty, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility.
You're going to hear a lot of people talk about your integrity—about how you listen, how trustworthy you are, and how you're a man of your word. But I can speak to a different level of trust.
I've known Pete for so many years that I honestly can't remember when we first met. During all my years living in California, my family was thousands of miles away on the East Coast. Outside of my own son, the closest thing I had to family was Pete and his wife, Mary.
When I say I trust Pete with my life, those aren't just words. I actually put that trust on paper.
In my estate plan, if something were to happen to me, Pete is one of the first people to be contacted. More importantly, I entrusted him with what is more precious to me than anything I own—my son. If my son's mother could not immediately be reached, Pete is the person I designated to step in, pick up my son, and care for him until she could.
That is the level of trust I have in this man.
There are people we trust with our possessions, people we trust with our business, and people we call friends. Then there are the very few people we trust with our family, our children, and everything that matters most to us.
For me, Pete is one of those men.
In the time I have known Pete Chryss, I have found him to be a man of action and integrity, generous with his time and his resources. He brings wisdom and clarity to every situation and is an asset to those who have the pleasure of his company.
I have known Pete Chryss since childhood. That is over 40 years! I have witnessed Pete become the incredible man that he is today. He's a "take the bull by the horns" kind of man. He never backs down from a challenge. Pete always advocates for people and causes that he's passionate about. Pete is a family man who takes pride in everything that he does and he's strongly guided by Christian values. This makes him honorable. He will supportively have your back and will make it his priority to do the right thing by people. One would be hard pressed to find an individual who has more integrity, loyalty and commitment to his word. He stands by that word and follows through in every aspect of a project from start to finish. Pete is a hands-on man who developed and ran a very successful business serving his community with a plan that only started as a young man's dream. I have known Pete Chryss for most of my life and I have so much trust in him. He will not let you down. That is truly the man he is. I can say with complete confidence that he is trustworthy and doesn't bite off more than he can chew. If he says he'll do something, he will get it done. Put your trust in him. He will not let you down.

One of Pete's most admirable qualities is his leadership. Very active in the community and in his church he leads by example, treating others with respect.

Pete Chryss is a man of integrity, generosity, and genuine character. He consistently looks for ways to support others, encourage their goals, and help those around him succeed. He leads by example, not simply by words, and can be trusted to make decisions with wisdom, honesty, and the best interests of others in mind. I believe his character, servant-hearted leadership, and commitment to others would make him an excellent addition to the board.
It is my pleasure to write this letter in support of Pete Chryss. I have known Pete for more than ten years, both personally and professionally, and I can honestly say that he is one of those people who leaves a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Pete is a natural leader who genuinely cares about the people around him. He is dependable, thoughtful, and someone you can always count on when something needs to be addressed. He has an incredible ability to look at a difficult situation, remain calm, listen to everyone involved, and find a solution. He does not look for recognition or credit, he simply wants to do what is right and help make things better.
What I admire most about Pete is his character. He treats people with respect and kindness, regardless of the situation. He is someone who takes his commitments seriously and consistently goes above and beyond for others. His compassion, integrity, and willingness to help are qualities that are increasingly difficult to find.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to see Pete in many different situations, and he has always demonstrated the same level of honesty, responsibility, and genuine care for others. He is someone I trust, respect, and am proud to know. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for someone of outstanding character, integrity, and leadership.
Hello, my name is Kathy Paiz. My husband, Carlos, and I have had the privilege of knowing Pete Chryss for the past six years, and in that time, we have come to know someone who genuinely loves his family, his community, and the people around him.
Pete is the kind of person who, when he sees a need, doesn't just talk about it—he finds a way to fill it. And if no one else is going to do it, Pete will roll up his sleeves and do it himself.
As a business owner, Pete leads with integrity and takes tremendous pride in providing his customers with the highest quality of service. He isn't someone who looks for shortcuts or believes in cutting corners just to make things work. He believes in doing things the right way.
When Pete gives you his word, you can count on him. He follows through, gets the job done, and stands behind what he says.
We are proud to support Pete Chryss and believe in the character, integrity, and commitment he brings to everything he does.
We met Pete through our local networking group and have had the privilege of knowing him for approximately two years. During that time, he has played an important role in the growth of our business. He has generously shared his experience and wisdom with us, becoming a great mentor and role model for how to run a successful business with honesty and integrity.
What stands out most about Pete is how much he genuinely cares about people and our community. He is always willing to help others grow and succeed. I believe his leadership, business experience, strong values, and commitment to the community would make him a valuable member of the Coachella Valley Water District Board.
I have had the privilege of knowing Pete Chryss for the past three years through our local networking community with Desert Elite Referral Partners, and during that time, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the kind of person and leader he is.
One of the qualities that stands out most to me about Pete is his reliability. He is someone who shows up. Not just when it benefits him, but for other people. Through our networking group, I have consistently seen him attend and support other members' events, businesses, and endeavors. He genuinely believes in supporting the people around him and is willing to invest his time and resources to help others succeed.
Pete has also demonstrated a deep commitment to our local community and small businesses. He supports local business owners in whatever way he can, whether that means using their services, referring them to others, making connections, or simply offering encouragement and guidance. What makes this especially meaningful is that he does these things without expecting anything in return. I have personally witnessed him create opportunities for others even when there was no financial benefit to him.
My own experience with Pete is a great example of this. When my family's cleaning business was still getting established, I was stepping into a leadership role with very little experience and was looking for ways to become more involved in our community. Pete took a chance on us from the beginning. After we joined the networking group, he was the very first person within the group to approach us and hire our company for our cleaning services. From that point forward, he continued to pour belief, support, resources, and encouragement into me and our business.
Pete also made an effort to get to know my husband and support him personally. When my husband recently decided to pursue his own business, Pete was one of the first people to encourage him, offer support, and share his knowledge and resources. Again, without expecting anything in return. That says a great deal about Pete's character.
Beyond business and networking, I have also had the opportunity to see Pete as a husband and father and to spend time with his family in his home. It is clear that family is incredibly important to him. He is a genuine family man, and the way he invests in the people closest to him reflects the same character I have seen in the way he serves his community.
Over the past three years, I have seen Pete lead, bring people together, build relationships, and create opportunities for others. I believe those qualities—integrity, reliability, selflessness, leadership, and a genuine commitment to people—are incredibly valuable for someone serving on the Coachella Valley Water District Board.
Pete has shown me that leadership, to him, is not about what you can gain. It is about what you can give. I am proud to know Pete, grateful for the way he has supported my family and our businesses, and confident that he would bring that same level of integrity, service, and commitment to the Coachella Valley Water District and the community he serves.

His ability to build consensus and make balanced decisions under pressure makes him suited well for a role that requires careful long-term planning and community representation.

I have known Pete for ten years. We met while he was serving as a board member in a community we manage. Our relationship and friendship have grown during the ensuing years, with Pete now being a valued co-worker and leadership team member here at Desert Resort Management.
The team here at Desert Resort Management is a second family to many of us. Pete has become an important part of the family here as a result of his loyalty to his co-workers, his dedication to his position, his high level of integrity, and his service-minded approach to all he takes on. There is truly no more reliable and dependable person on our team.
The most important personality traits Pete possesses are his persistence and ability to persevere. Those are the traits which I value most in him. I have seen him in his HOA board leadership position take a truly struggling community and restore the physical and emotional soul of the community. In his role here at Desert Resort Management, I have seen him repeatedly make a success out of a task others would have struggled to see through.
For all the reasons I have stated here, I do not believe you could elect a more qualified and competent individual to serve on the Coachella Valley Water District Board. His dedication to community service, integrity, and dedication to all he takes on, is unmatched by any other person I am blessed to call a friend.
